Inside the AP Poll: Notre Dame-BYU, Alabama-Kentucky’s head-to-head results should matterIt’s always a bad look when teams are sitting side-by-side in the official poll in the opposite order of a game result.

Northwestern:

Northwestern, 6-1, is off to its best start in six years, following last week's 42-14 win against Rutgers. QB Aidan Chiles tied a career-high with five total touchdowns (three passing, two rushing) and was named Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season.

Chiles, in his first season with the Wildcats since transferring from Michigan State, has 21 touchdowns this season (12 passing, 9 rushing) and just one interception.

“He just continues to just feel more and more comfortable,” head coach David Braun said. “The thing I love about him is there's no complacency there. To know you've got a quarterback that isn't satisfied just being good, but wants to be great, it's pretty exciting as a coach.”

The Wildcats face a challenging schedule, with each of their remaining five matchups against opponents with a winning record. Still, their College Football Playoff hopes are very much alive.

Oregon:

The Ducks are now 4-3 coming off a 21-10 loss to the Fighting Illini last week.

Oregon entered the season ranked second in the AP Preseason poll, but has already matched its loss total from the previous two seasons combined.

Starting QB Dante Moore has missed the last three games after suffering a concussion in the Ducks' Sept. 26 matchup against USC and will not return this season.

“We said before that this is a serious deal that he’ll 100% be able to fully recover from, that hasn’t changed,” head coach Dan Lanning said. “But for him to be out there on the field for us, that’s not going to happen. We’d love to have Dante out there, he’s still going to be a big part of this team.”

The Ducks, who fired offensive coordinator Drew Mehringer last Sunday, have gone 1-2 without Moore, and face an uphill battle to remain in the College Football Playoff conversation.
