Boozer finished with 18 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists in 28 minutes. He is the second youngest player in NBA history to record a triple-double. He's also the youngest power forward and Grizzlies player to do so.
“It took him long enough,” Grizzlies coach Tuomas Iisalo jokingly said. “Fifth game already. He’s unbelievable.”
The Grizzlies (5-0) drafted Boozer with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft. He put together two double-doubles in the first four games ahead of the matchup against Portland.
Boozer said he felt like he was in a better rhythm against Portland than previous games. He shot 6-for-10 from the field and made four of his five 3-point attempts.
"Tonight was a lot of fun," Boozer said. "It was a great win. Starting the season 5-0. I feel like I needed that game to kind of get in a rhythm, making the right plays (and) things like that. It was a great game.
Memphis will return to action on Oct. 31 at FedExForum against the Sacramento Kings. The Grizzlies are one win shy of tying the franchise record of a 6-0 start.
