The Baltimore Ravens quarterbacks just can’t catch a break. Not only did Ravens star Lamar Jackson suffer a thumb injury in his first snap back against the Buffalo Bills, but backup Tyler Huntley was also knocked out of the game with possible turf toe. Third-stringer Joe Fagnano had to come in, and even he also got banged up after taking a couple of hard hits during the game.

Fagnano was asked whether he would be healthy enough to play on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and his answer was short and far from reassuring.

“I think so,” Fagnano said.

Fagnano, who went undrafted in this year’s draft out of UConn, finished the game completing 10 of 21 pass attempts for 91 yards with one interception and three sacks taken in his first taste of NFL action.

Given the concerning nature of both Jackson’s and Huntley’s injuries, the Ravens may have no choice but to go with Fagnano even if he is not fully healthy. That’s a terrible spot to put a rookie quarterback in, but that might end up happening anyway.

Needless to say, the Ravens’ chances of winning on Thursday night against the Jaguars aren’t looking good. Either they go with Fagnano or Huntley, both of whom are likely hobbled, or a quarterback they sign from the street later in the week, which is far from ideal.

The Jags (5-2) are coming off a 42-7 demolition of the Indianapolis Colts, who had a seasoned veteran in Daniel Jones at quarterback. They picked off Jones twice, upping their tally to nine interceptions on the season. Whoever starts at quarterback for the Ravens will have his work cut out for him against that defense.
