Anthony Richardson trade possibilities: Some teams should be interested in Colts quarterback

· Yahoo Sports

The Baltimore Ravens are in desperate need of a quarterback. Lamar Jackson (thumb) and Tyler Huntley (toe) left their Week 8 game, leaving Joe Fagnano as their only option. They signed Austin Reed to their practice squad on Monday, Nov. 2.

If the Ravens (4-4) want to remain in the AFC playoff hunt, they will likely need to make a move soon.

Former Indianapolis Colts quarterback and ESPN football analyst Dan Orlovsky has a suggestion: Colts QB Anthony Richardson.

Richardson made his first appearance of the season in the Colts' Week 8 blowout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, going 2-of-2 for 8 yards passing, with 4 rushing yards.

The Colts have shown willingness to trade team leaders, so the 2023 No. 4 overall NFL Draft pick could be on the block. He has appeared in 18 games, just three in the past 1 1/2 seasons. Also, the Colts could hand him the reins if Daniel Jones continues to struggle.

Trade possibilities for Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson

Vinnie Iyer of Sporting News puts Richardson on his list of six potential QBs the Ravens should try to acquire.

"The Ravens should call to inquire about Richardson for the hard-selling Colts. In this scenario, Baltimore would get the rushing element of Jackson back to work with (offensive coordinator Declan) Doyle. At worst, it's a low-risk move that won't cost the Ravens much for a half-season evaluation. At best, Richardson develops into a better long-term backup for Jackson."

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports ranks Richardson seventh on his list of QBs who could move.

"The Colts are blowing it up. They already traded away Nelson and DeForest Buckner, and Jonathan Taylor seems like he could be next if the price is right. If Indy is willing to move that caliber of player, trading Anthony Richardson for any sort of return should be on the table even after benching Daniel Jones late in the Week 8 loss to Jacksonville."

Adam Carlson, who covers the Vikings for Sports Illustrated, recommends a call to Indianapolis.

"Having Richardson in the Vikings' quarterback room would add competition for whoever Minnesota brings in during the offseason — either via trade, free agency or the 2027 NFL Draft — and raise the floor for the future of the position."

When is the NFL trade deadline?
