During an interview with 97.1 The Ticket on Tuesday, Nov. 3, the Lions head coach said Jack, 26, is “improving” as he remains hospitalized. The team confirmed that the former first-round pick sustained a neck injury in the second half of the Lions’ 19-15 home win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

“It’s not easy because he’s always going to be on our minds over here,” Dan, 50, told the radio show, adding, “The good news is he is improving.”

Dan said “knowing he’s doing better,” in reference to Jack, and keeping the other Lions players informed on the positive updates “helps everybody just get a better handle on this.”

The head coach added, “All we can do at this point is just continue to pray for Jack, put our thoughts on him when we have a minute, and on his family — and it’s working, like I said, because he’s improving.”

Dan asked for continued prayers for Jack. “Please continue to do that. We’ll leave it at that, so continue to pray for him. But it is positive,” he told 97.1.

Jack sustained the neck injury when his head collided with Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson’s hip when he went to make a tackle in the fourth quarter. Jack landed face-first on the turf at Ford Field and remained motionless for several moments. Players from both teams took a knee and appeared emotional as medical staff tended to Jack, who was eventually placed on a stretcher and carted off the field.

He has been hospitalized since the incident.
