It’s all fun and games now, because Terrell Owens has a bronze bust in Canton’s Pro Football Hall of Fame. Yet, there was a time when the former San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver was one of the most controversial players on the gridiron.

Some called him a diva. Others called him a headcase. Now, they call him a legend.

Now, years after he played his last NFL game in 2010, Owens is opening up about why he was often perceived as the bad guy during his playing days, and he points to one critic in particular.

Terrell Owens Calls Out Skip Bayless As One of His Biggest Haters

Another figure who was very popular during Owens’ NFL heyday was sports personality Skip Bayless, who had a prominent role on ESPN at the time.

Now, as Owens discusses his upcoming documentary titled “Terrell & T.O.” on his “Get TO The Point Podcast,” he believes fans will get to see a different side of him.

“I think people are going to get a true understanding, because of the title itself, it differentiates Terrell from T.O.,” Owens explained. “What a lot of people know of me now, they just know T.O., right? The media, I ain’t gonna say, created that character, that person, but they put a target on that individual, T.O. That’s part of the theme of me being everybody’s No. 1 target. People will be able to understand what made me me.”

Owens then went on to suggest that Bayless was his biggest critic at the time.

“Based on media, a lot of people from the media, they categorized me as being selfish, not a teammate,” Owens said.

“Skip Bayless was obviously the No. 1 culprit. He had a couple of nicknames for me, like Team Obliterator, using my initials and things of that nature. The documentary, I think, will speak for itself… People will understand what made me me. I wasn’t the person the media has made me out to be, all these years.”

Owens is clearly excited about his upcoming documentary, which will premiere on Nov. 5, 2026, on Amazon Prime Video. Will it do the Hall of Famer justice?

Based on his reactions, it sure sounds like something Owens is eager to share with the world. Who knows? Maybe it will even draw a reaction from his old pal, Skip Bayless, who will surely be tuning in too.

Though now that his playing days are long gone, Bayless probably won’t find much negative to say about the legend who many view as one of the greatest receivers of all time.
