Stephen A. Smith’s political commentary has been called out by his fellow sports analyst Nick Wright following the US midterm elections.

Stephen A. Smith may be known for his takes on the NBA and NFL for the most part, but he has recently been quite active in the field of political commentary as well. Following the results, he released a video talking about how the Democrats’ dominance might cost them in the next elections in 2028.

Nick Wright suggests Stephen A. Smith isn’t ‘being honest’ with his audience in political commentary

ESPN’s main man has been talking about politics for a significant amount of time at this point. There have even been suggestions that he might eventually run for political office himself. First Things First host Nick Wright took exception to Smith’s take following the midterms, though, calling him out publicly in no uncertain terms.

“The problem with refusing to be honest with your audience (and potentially yourself!) about your politics while creating political content is you end up creating political content that appeals to… absolutely no one,” Wright wrote in a post on X.

The current political climate in the country is quite tense, to say the least. Multiple issues being discussed in races have involved the sports world, albeit indirectly at times. Now it seems that even the bigger names in sports media are getting involved. Smith is unlikely to let this slide without response.
