‘What about America first?’: US TikTokers react to Afrikaner refugee influx

· The South African

Several American TikTokers have reacted to reports that the White House has approved plans to significantly increase the intake of Afrikaner refugees in the coming months.

Around 4 500 predominantly white Afrikaners are expected to leave the country under the US administration, as implemented by President Donald Trump.

The government initially planned to accept an intake of 7500 “persecuted” South Africans in the current fiscal year.

AMERICANS REACT TO INCREASED INTAKE OF AFRIKANER REFUGEES

On TikTok, several Americans have posted reaction videos to news that around 4500 South Africans – predominantly Afrikaners – would be given refugee status each month.

Here is what a few have said…

@bodybagsforbillionaires said: “There is no f**king genocide of white people in South Africa. This is repulsive. What about Make America, America first? It’s not America first, it’s white people first”.

@straightouttasalem: “Are we ok with refugees taking our jobs as long as they are white?… We have an extreme amount of people out of work…we still do not have enough resources for Americans already here?

@malachitheentrpreneur: “They are not refugees. You have to go through something to be a refugee. People are coming from war-torn countries and being denied entry into the US. This is manufactured propaganda. This is about whose life has value.”

@dijay2025: “This administration’s anti-immigration agenda is racially motivated more than anything else. There is no definitive record that they [white South Africans] are being oppressed or that we really owe them this kind of relief”.

PLANS TO BRING OVER 4 500 PER MONTH

According to a Reuters report, the US administration has signed off on plans to drastically increase the approval rate for applications from South African refugees.

Last year, President Trump allocated an intake of 7500 refugees in the next fiscal year, primarily of Afrikaner descent.

The White House has reportedly approved plans to fast-track up to 4500 Afrikaner refugee applications each month.

However, reports have emerged that this number could exceed 40 000, as around 4 500 applications could be processed each month.

To expedite the process, a contracting document revealed that a modular village – consisting of multiple trailers – would be erected at the US Embassy in Pretoria.
