In addition to his DUI charge, Odom is accused of driving more than 41 miles per hour over the speed limit, as well as making an improper lane change/or having a failure to maintain his lane following his arrest in the early morning hours of Jan. 17.

On Jan. 29, the former Laker's manager Gina Rodriguez confirmed to PEOPLE that Odom entered a 30-day rehab program at iRely Recovery in Los Angeles following his arrest to seek treatment for his marijuana use. Odom's manager said the former NBA star was growing concerned that his cannabis use could lead to a relapse into harder, more dangerous drugs.

“After a recent incident, he took a step back to reflect and address triggers he’s been dealing with,” Rodriguez said in January, adding that Odom made the “personal decision” to enter treatment to “reset and focus on his health.”

She also noted that Odom is taking "full responsibility and choosing to be proactive about his wellbeing" following the DUI arrest. "Lamar is grateful for the support and is committed to moving forward in a healthy, positive way," Rodriguez said.

Amid Odom's current legal woes, the former athlete has been emotionally revisiting his nearly fatal 2015 overdose for an upcoming episode of Netflix's Untold series, premiering on March 31. In the trailer, Odom opens up about "the afterlife" and suffering "12 strokes and six heart attacks" in a Nevada brothel.

His ex, reality star Khloe Kardashian, also sits down for the documentary to recount her experience trying to "protect" the former Laker. Kardashian, who married Odom in 2009 before they initially separated in 2013, recalled in the trailer how her ex-husband "would escape rehab" and "go on a drug bender."

"No one could find him," said Kardashian, admitting she felt "such a responsibility to cover this up and protect him," while talking about the years Odom spent abusing substances.
