Oboavwoduo held offers from TCU, Oklahoma, Clemson, Wake Forest and UCF before her commitment to Boston College, which made a coaching change in March.

She also posted visits to Purdue and Cincinnati on her Tiktok.

Oboavwoduo would be a welcome addition for Tennessee, which lost all eight of its returners to the transfer portal along with five-star forward Oliviyah Edwards, who was released from her signing. Four-star wing Gabby Minus is the only incoming freshman for the Lady Vols.

Oboavwoduo plays for Manchester Basketball in the Super League and has had a decorated youth career overseas. She earned a call-up to the Great Britain senior women's national team for the EuroBasket 2027 qualifiers in November.

When she signed with Boston College in November, former Eagles coach Joanna Bernabei-McNamee called Oboavwoduo "a long, versatile wing with a natural feel for the game."

"She plays with a maturity beyond her years, has a smooth mid-range game, and is a relentless rebounder," Bernabei-McNamee said in a school release. "Her instincts, pace, and unselfishness make her a great fit for our system. We're thrilled to welcome Irene to The Heights. She embodies the drive and integrity we value at Boston College."

She also represented Great Britain in the U18 EuroBasket 2025 and averaged 11.1 points, 3.7 rebounds and three assists and 1.7 steals over seven games. Oboavwoduo averaged 22.7 minutes and shot 50% from the field and 25% on 3-pointers.

Oboavwoduo was the captain for the Great Britain U16 team that won a bronze medal at the 2024 U16 EuroBasket in Turkey. She averaged 20.1 points, 7.7 rebounds, 4.7 steals and two assists while shooting 38.9% from the field.

Oboavwoduo also represented Great Britain in the FIBA U16 European Championships in 2022 and 2023. She played for the Manchester Mystics from 2019-24 and won multiple national league and cup championships at the U14, U16 and U18 levels.

Oboavwoduo is a multi-sport athlete who also played handball and run cross country.
