The Los Angeles Dodgers took a 5-3 win over the Colorado Rockies in the first game of their three-game series Monday evening.

Sheehan has a 3.62 ERA at home this season through 32.1 innings pitched, and a 6.52 ERA on the road through 19.1 innings pitched.
Sheehan made fairly quick work of the Rockies’ batting order in the first three innings of the game, throwing just 41 pitches and giving the Dodgers a window to take the lead. Kiké Hernandez capitalized on that opportunity, scoring Hyeseong Kim in the bottom of the third with a double down the left field line.

Hernandez made his first start of the season Monday after coming off the injured list following an offseason elbow surgery, and went 2-for-2.
The Rockies struck back quickly after the Dodgers’ first run, though, plating two runners in the top of the fourth inning with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly.
The bullpen’s 38-inning scoreless broke in the top of the seventh inning on the first batter standout reliever Kyle Hurt faced, when Ezequiel Tovar hit his second home run of the season 431 feet into the center field bleachers.

The Rockies loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh through two walks and a hit by pitch, bringing the top of the lineup to the plate.
The big bats delivered, as four runs scored on four consecutive batters gave the Dodgers a 5-3 lead, which they would hold onto for the remainder of the game. Colorado went down without much of a fight as the Dodgers extended their lead at the top of the division.

LA leads the NL West by 2.5 games following Monday’s results, and will hope they can further extend their lead as the series continues. Their next opportunity to beat the Rockies comes Tuesday, when Eric Lauer makes his first start for the Dodgers.
