As already confirmed, Jorge Salinas remains a player of interest for Barcelona. The teenage defender is held in high regard in the Catalan club and a move is in the works for him.
In fact, there has been talk that a transfer is close to completion, although the move might not be as advanced as believed.
Now, according to Mundo Deportivo, despite admiring him greatly, Barcelona have no intention of entering a bidding war for the highly-rated Racing Santander left-back.
The 19-year-old was one of the revelations of Racing’s promotion-winning campaign, making 33 appearances, but Barça are determined to keep any deal within reasonable limits.
Interest exists, but within strict financial limits
Barcelona see Salinas as an exciting prospect for the future, yet only at a price they consider sensible.
According to discussions held with Racing, the Blaugrana are comfortable with a fee around €4 million, but are reluctant to go much higher.

The difference stems from the interpretation of his release clause.
Salinas has technically retained his youth-team registration this season, wearing the number 32 shirt despite playing regularly in the Segunda Division. Barcelona believe the clause linked to that status is worth around €4 million.
Racing, however, argue that his involvement with the first team throughout the campaign automatically raises the amount to €8 million.
Furthermore, after the club’s promotion to La Liga, the clause will officially rise to €16 million on 1 July, although Racing maintain that the higher figure already applies because promotion has already been secured.
As a result, the final days of June are expected to be crucial in determining the defender’s future.
Barça refuse to enter a bidding war
Barcelona are aware that several clubs have already expressed interest in Salinas. Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Bologna and Newcastle United have all been linked, while PSG have also been mentioned as potential suitors.

Despite that competition, Barça are not prepared to inflate their offer or enter into an auction. The club view Salinas as a market opportunity rather than an urgent necessity and are unwilling to compromise their strategy.
Waiting for Salinas to make his move
Represented by Jorge Mendes, Salinas is under contract with Racing until 2029. Barcelona are waiting to see whether the player himself will prioritise a move to the Camp Nou and potentially help facilitate an agreement before his price increases further.
Even if Barça complete the signing, the plan would likely involve leaving him on loan at Racing Santander to continue his development in La Liga rather than bringing him immediately into Hansi Flick’s first-team squad.
Barcelona admire his potential, but they remain committed to a measured approach. If the numbers climb too high, the club are prepared to walk away.
