· Yahoo Sports
When the Boston Celtics emerged as a potential trade suitor for Giannis Antetokounmpo, it was clear Brad Stevens was looking to usher in a change in play style. The knock-on effect of the failed trade pursuit will be what happens next with Jaylen Brown, who was publicly dangled as part of the trade package. Are the Celtics looking to flip Brown while his trade value is at its highest, in hopes of acquiring young talent who fit the front office's vision? Or will Brown be willing to overlook yet another trade saga and double down next to Jayson Tatum?
The Celtics front office will need to find an answer to that question. However, first, they must make sure they're asking the right question. According to a recent segment on NESN, the question is whether Boston can win another championship with a roster built around Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. Matt McCarthy, Joe Murray, and Lucy Burdge discussed what it took to get Boston over the hump in 2024 and questioned the validity of believing Stevens can pull off another string of trades to elevate the franchise once again.
The panel also questioned whether trading Brown would be the right course of action or whether the front office would be wise to stay the course with the All-Star duo already in place.
