The Jaylen Brown era in Boston is officially over.

On Wednesday evening, the Celtics shipped the 2024 NBA Finals MVP to the 76ers in exchange for Paul George and a package of future draft picks, according to ESPN's Shams Charania.

Brown was reportedly included in a trade offer for Giannis Antetokounmpo before the former Buck landed in Miami, but the Celtics seemed determined to move Brown during the offseason even after they failed to acquire the two-time NBA MVP.

In his final season with Boston, Brown flourished as a No. 1 option with Jayson Tatum recovering from an Achilles injury, averaging 28.7 points per game and earning a spot on the All-NBA Second Team. Now, he will play for one of the Celtics' biggest Eastern Conference rivals.

  • 76ers receive: Jaylen Brown

The Celtics acquired George, two first-round picks and two second-round picks from Philadelphia in the blockbuster deal.

Here are the full details on the draft picks, per Charania:

Jaylen Brown's legacy in Boston

Brown's decade in Boston is defined by a relentless upward trajectory that constantly defied external expectations. He leaves as an NBA champion, NBA Finals MVP and five-time All-Star.

While Brown was often considered the No. 2 star behind Tatum, he established himself as one of the best players in the league during the Celtics' championship run, winning both the Eastern Conference and NBA Finals MVP awards.

In his final season in Boston, when Tatum was sidelined for months recovering from his Achilles tear, Brown elevated his game. He emerged as a legitimate MVP candidate, averaging a staggering 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game.

Jaylen Brown contract

Brown signed a five-year supermax contract extension with the Celtics in summer of 2023. He is set to become an unrestricted free agent in 2029.

The contract carries a base salary and cap hit of $57,078,728 in 2026-27, per Spotrac.
