Cosby was in the Top 10 of the class of 2027, but he elected to reclassify to 2026 after spending his final high school season at Montverde Academy Prep School in Florida. Cosby also spent time with Overtime Elite in preparation for college. However, his senior season was cut short by an ACL injury.
With a 6-foot-9 frame and 7-foot-2 wingspan, Cosby has unique size that allows him to create on offense, but he also has the athleticism of Michigan forward’s past like Yaxel Lendeborg to be able to get downhill quickly.
Hartman is a four-star recruit and Top 100 recruit, where he spent his final season at The Rock School in Florida. He is expected to play more of a combo guard role with upside as a big guard while keeping strong perimeter shooting.
Confirmed: Freshman combo guard Joseph Hartman (@Joseph32Hartman) will be staying at #Michigan even after Dusty May’s departure to the Dallas Mavs.

Cosby’s injury brought on some uncertainty heading into his freshman season, while Hartman’s spot behind guards like Cadeau, McKenney and fellow freshman Brandon McCoy makes his role uncertain as well.
Despite their uncertainty in role this upcoming season, one thing is for certain, they will remain at Michigan this upcoming season.
