Petrovic played in 19 games for the Illini this past season and ultimately saw his minutes shrink as the season progressed. The 23-year-old Serbian entered college basketball as a sophomore this past fall and will have two years of eligibility left.
Petrovic averaged 5.7 minutes per game and ultimately never found a role on this season’s Illinois program. Petrovic was among the few inside the Illinois locker room after the Final Four loss to UConn to be relatively unfazed by the emotion around him.
This move wasn’t much of a surprise after his role became nonexistent during the heat of conference play.
