AKA and Anele Tembe’s tragic love story [photos]

Anele plunged to her death from the 10th floor of the Pepperclub Hotel in Cape Town on 11 April 2021.
The formal inquest into the death of Anele has been postponed until September 2026.
This was scheduled to take place at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 13 July but the magistrate postponed proceedings due to an “unavoidable medical emergency”.
Anele was in a relationship with rapper Kiernan Jarryd Forbes, popularly known as AKA, at the time of her death.
AKA was shot dead outside of Wish Restaurant on Florida Road, Durban on 10 February 2023.

JANUARY 2020
In January 2020, a video of AKA and Anele surfaced on Twitter while many people thought he was still in a relationship with the mother of his child, DJ Zinhle.
However, AKA jumped in to clear the air and confessed his love for Anele.
Towards the end of January, AKA posted the first picture of Anele on his Instagram account which left fans guessing.
FEBRUARY 2020
In February 2020, AKA took to Twitter to thank the person who shared the video of him and Anele. He said it was one of the “biggest favours someone ever did” for him.

MAY 2020
In May 2020, AKA posted one of the first pictures of him and the then-aspiring chef stargazing into each other’s eyes. The picture was captioned “cross my heart”.
A few days earlier, he posted a “teaser” picture with Tembe’s back turned to the camera.
JULY 2020
In July 2020, AKA announced that he had contracted COVID-19 and that Anele was taking care of him on his road to recovery.
FEBRUARY 2021
To the surprise of many, AKA put a ring on Anele’s finger in February 2021, showing the world how serious he is about their relationship. He posted a picture of the sparkling diamond ring to his Instagram.
MARCH 2021
A few weeks later, in March 2021 AKA paid the traditional “lobola” to the Tembe family to secure her hand in marriage.
APRIL 2021
The couple spent the Easter weekend together along what seems to be the KwaZulu-Natal coast.
The Saturday before her shocking death, AKA shared images and videos of their time spent together in Cape Town on his Instagram stories – from shopping to their night out.
