Going into the Portland Cascade’s final regular season game of the year, it seemed unlikely rookie Megan Grant would be able to finish the campaign as the Athletes Unlimited Softball League’s all-time home run leader.

Grant’s eight home runs were once the highest in the AUSL. But then, Oklahoma City Spark outfielder Maya Brady and infielder Sydney Romero passed Grant on the leaderboard with 10 and nine home runs, respectively.
Brady broke the AUSL single-season home run record when she hit her 10th of the season against the Blaze during the Sparks’ 12-4 win on Saturday.

Grant had just one regular season game remaining to hit two home runs to tie her former UCLA teammate’s record. And she did just that.
The two-time USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Finalist hit two home runs in two innings against the Texas Volts to match Brady with 10 home runs this season.
the two teams fighting for the final spot in the championship also have players battling for the single-season home run record 😳

Grant was crowned as the NCAA’s all-time single-season home run leader when she hit 42 home runs as a senior at UCLA this season. She totaled 91 home runs throughout her career with the Bruins, which also makes her the program’s all-time home run leader.

Meanwhile, Grant and the Cascade’s regular season is over unless Brady and the Spark lose on Monday. A loss would allow Portland to secure the No. 3 seed in the AUSL Play-In Game.
