SV Hamburg signed 27-year-old Patson Daka on a free transfer from Leicester City on Wednesday as the Bundesliga side's search for a striker paid off.

After a successful medical in Hamburg, the Zambia international has already arrived at their training camp in Austria.

"He brings a high willingness to perform both with and without the ball and consistently puts himself at the service of the team as a team player. At the same time, he has a lot of experience at international level," Hamburg board member for sport Kathleen Krüger said in a statement.

Daka moved to the then FA Cup winners in 2021 for around $34 million from Red Bull Salzburg. During his time at Leicester, he was relegated with the club twice and his contract expired.

The attacker is expected to fill one of the gaps left by the departures of Robert Glatzel (Wolfsburg), Ransford Königsdörffer (Mainz) and Damion Downs (Southampton). Hamburg are still looking for at least one more striker for the new season.
