Cowboys Headlines: What's the mindset as 2026 training camp commences?

· Yahoo Sports

When the Dallas Cowboys begin training camp, head coach Brian Schottenheimer needs to get his offense into the mindset of being more aggressive. At times last season, the Cowboys played with that mentality, but there were also stretches where the offense looked asleep at the wheel and needed a spark before finding its rhythm. One of the best ways to set the tone is with an aggressive game plan that puts pressure on opponents from the opening kickoff and gets Dallas on the scoreboard first.

Fortunately for Schottenheimer, the Cowboys have several promising building blocks he can lean on to help establish that mindset. Everyone knows what receivers CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens bring to the outside, but Dallas now has a much clearer picture of what running back Javonte Williams can provide, and the rest of the league is starting to take notice as well. If defenses focus on slowing Williams on early downs, Schottenheimer has the weapons to make them pay by taking shots downfield with Lamb and Pickens. That kind of approach can put defenses on their heels early, keep them guessing, and create opportunities for the offense throughout the game.
