Fans explain why there were lots of empty seats at Inter Miami game even with Messi playing

Lionel Messi made it to the final of this summer’s tournament, but his Argentina team lost to Spain in the final on July 19.
He returned to Inter Miami at the beginning of August, coming off the bench in a game against Columbus Crew.
The South American then started his first match since the World Cup on Wednesday night against Atletico de San Luis.

During the game, which saw Messi score twice, reporter Franco Panizo pointed out that there were ‘lots of empty seats’ at the Nu Stadium ‘even with Messi playing’.
Writing on X/Twitter, he stated: “Second straight home game with lots of empty seats! Several stands here at Nu Stadium have noticeable gaps throughout, and we’re more than 25 minutes in. Seems like a portion of general public is futbol-ed out after World Cup, even with Messi playing.”
However, a number of fans have since replied to the tweet to explain why the stadium was not full.
A few explanations were given, but several pointed towards the fact it was just because it was a midweek game.
One wrote: “It’s a midweek game vs some team in Mexico that no one has ever heard of… This stadium holds 27k. If 18k are here, there will be empty areas.”
A second added: “Bro, it’s a Wednesday night game man, a lot of fans live in Broward County make it complicated to go to a game if you end working at 6PM, like come on bro.”
“It’s a Wednesday night game in Miami. Same thing happens for Heat and Panthers games,” commented a third.
Another stated: “Wednesday night match with torrential downpours,” with a fifth echoing: “I mean it is Wednesday night plus summer.”
And a sixth tweeted: “Games at 7:30pm don’t work, gotta give more time to people to make it on time, tickets are still expensive.”
