Collin Sexton talks about reuniting with Walker Kessler on Lakers

Walker Kessler and Collin Sexton, two of the more important members of the Los Angeles Lakers, were teammates together for three seasons on the Utah Jazz. This will no doubt help them, especially on the offensive end, when the team opens up training camp and then starts playing games in October.

Kessler is the legitimate defensive presence at the center position the Lakers have wanted and needed for a while, not to mention an excellent rebounder. Sexton, meanwhile, will give them some of the complementary ball-handling, faciliating, scoring and pace creation they have needed, especially after LeBron James decided to leave.
In a video for the Lakers' YouTube channel, Sexton briefly talked about how much he's looking forward to reuniting with Kessler.
“Walker, that’s my guy, we’re both from Atlanta,” Sexton said. “I grew up watching Walker. When I was in the league, I knew he was next coming out. So playing in Utah, we created some really good chemistry together and even in the summertime, we always work out together. So, it’s cool to have him as my teammate again.”
In three seasons with Kessler and the Jazz, Sexton averaged 17.5 points and 4.2 assists in 26.3 minutes a game while shooting 48.8% from the field and 39.8% from 3-point range. Overall, he has career averages of 18.3 points on 47.2% field-goal shooting and 38.9% 3-point shooting and 3.6 assists in 29 minutes a game.
When the two were in Utah, the Jazz were a bad team that wasn't going out of its way to win games. Now, they're on a Lakers team that likely expects to make the playoffs, so chances are they will feel that games will take on more significance for them.
Los Angeles is hoping to win the NBA championship within the next couple of years, and Kessler and Sexton will have the opportunity to be a significant part of the franchise's quest for its 18th world title.
