Jeff Hafley is gearing up for his first-ever season as a head coach in the NFL with the Miami Dolphins.
He was appointed in January 2026 after being handpicked by Miami’s general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan.

Hafley likely has a huge task ahead of him this season, with the Dolphins finishing third in the AFC East with a record of 7-10 in 2025.
They have now failed to make the playoffs for two years in a row. So what will success look like for Hafley in 2026?

Well, Stephen A Smith spoke to the new Dolphins coach this week via his YouTube channel.
And when doing so, Smith stated: “Coach Jeff Hafley, define success for the Miami Dolphins for the 2026 NFL season in your eyes.”
Hafley responded: “I think it’s, success is gonna be, it’s not going to be measured in wins and losses this year.
“And I know nobody wants to hear that. I want to see our team; I want to see where we end and how far we can take this thing and how much we develop these players and develop that image that I talked to you about. Success for me is going to be we go on that field, and we play so —- hard where even you turn it on and say, ‘Man, those guys are flying around. They’re playing together. They love each other. They’re in this thing together’, and we’re just growing and building and growing and building, and we’ll see where this takes us.
“I just, going to stay away from like, the win-loss total. I just think this year is so much about developing who we are as a football team, finding the right guys, and then just by the end of the year, saying, ‘You know what? We got something really powerful going forward’.”
The Dolphins have one more preseason game left to play against the Atlanta Falcons this weekend before their proper season begins against the Las Vegas Raiders on September 13.
