The Denver Broncos have until 4 p.m. MT on Sunday, Aug. 30, to finalize an initial 53-man roster for the 2026 NFL season. The moves started on Saturday when the Broncos cut 11 players, including veteran fullback Adam Prentice.
Prentice's release has been widely reported as a procedural move. Because he is a vested veteran, Prentice will not be subject to the NFL's waiver wire. So, after the dust settles, Denver is expected to re-sign him to the practice squad. Prentice can then be elevated to the game-day roster up to three times from the practice squad.
Prentice figures to be fully promoted to the active roster at some point this fall, but the Broncos will have some early-season roster flexibility with Prentice beginning on the practice squad instead of the 53-man roster.
