Chargers' Jim Harbaugh sends clear message about offensive line play

Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh keeps it real about his offensive line after their Week 1 loss to the Cardinals.

Harbaugh spoke to the media on Wednesday and said he is far from satisfied with the offensive line play.
“No, I’ve never been satisfied with anything related to football," Harbaugh said.
"It’s not a word that I associate with football.”
The Chargers' offense as a whole was rough against the Cardinals, and the protection was no exception.
The tackles were the only bright spot, particularly Rashawn Slater. Slater was stellar in his season debut after missing the last 610 days with a torn left patellar tendon.
Joe Alt was also great, recording a strong pass-blocking grade of 82.7, according to Pro Football Focus.
The interior was the Chargers' main issue, as it has been since last season. Harbaugh went platoon at left guard between Kayode Awosika and Trey Pipkins III. Awosika outperformed Pipkins; still, they had plenty of blown assignments, holding penalties, and false starts that stalled drives.
Awosika did his thing in pass-blocking, recording an 85.1 grade in that department. However, right guard Cole Strange and Pipkins were atrocious.
According to PFF, Strange had a 10.6 pass-blocking grade, allowing zero sacks but five pressures. Pipkins had a PFF pass-blocking grade of 41.4 and allowed one sack and one pressure.
The Chargers' offensive line, especially the interior, will remain the focal point throughout the season.
