PREP ROUNDUP: Logan boys soccer falls to Western 1-0

The Logansport boys soccer team dropped a match at Western on Wednesday, 1-0.
The Berries (4-4-2, 3-3-1) finish in fourth place in the Hoosier Conference.

“Tough conference loss,” Logan coach Mike Turner said. “We played a good first half and created several good opportunities but couldn’t finish.
“Just three minutes in to the second half Western caught us on a counter and we were flat.”
The Berries outshot the Panthers 13-7 but came up short.
“We just can’t seem to find composure to score,” Turner said. “Compliments to my players. They don’t quit. They fight and play some fantastic soccer. We are fun to watch and I’m really proud of their effort and grit.”
Logan’s JV topped Western 3-1. Angel Gazcon scored two goals, one assisted by Edgar Espinoza and the second assisted by Jorge Hernandez. Edwin Tomas scored a goal from a penalty.
MARION 36, LOGANSPORT 0
The Junior Berries (1-3) were unable to score in a game halted at halftime for lightning.
Coach’s comment: “There were some players that stepped up to play in new positions tonight and showed great effort.”
LOGANSPORT 2, PIONEER 0
Logansport defeated Pioneer 25-12, 25-12.
Keista Crume led with 10 points, followed by Tenley Helton (8), Jordyn Woodruff (6) and Laney Teague (5).
Ryleigh Hanna, Natalia Howard and Rosemary Pherson had great defensive games. Crume, Teague, Woodruff and Hanna all contributed several kills.
LOGANSPORT 2, WESTERN 0
Logansport defeated Western 25-19, 25-17.
Rosemary Pherson led with 16 points, followed by Ryleigh Hanna (10 points, 8 assists, 2 kills), Keista Crume (9 points, 6 assists, 4 kills) and Laney Teague (6 kills).
Jordyn Woodruff and Tenley Helton added key kills. Natalia Howard and Skylar Hudson added great defense.
LOGANSPORT 3, DELPHI 2
Harrison Werner won 8-5 in singles. Jeyco Gonzales/Bennett Smith won 8-5 in doubles. Liam Gordon/Ryker Lantz also won 8-5 in doubles.
Ariah Espinoza won 8-1 in singles.
