Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni needed an IV after enduring extreme heat conditions during Sunday’s 24-20 win over the Tennessee Titans in Week 2 at Nissan Stadium.

The temperature in Nashville was around 95 degrees at the noon kickoff, while the heat index reached about 105 degrees. The artificial turf was even more punishing, with its surface temperature reportedly climbing to 157 degrees Fahrenheit, according to the television broadcast.
The conditions affected players on both teams throughout the game. Titans players were shown spraying water on their cleats, while both sidelines relied on fans, cooling equipment, fluids and wet towels to deal with the heat.

“It was hot as s—,” said Sirianni. “I didn’t play a snap and I had to get an IV. I so appreciate how much the guys prepared. I so appreciate how much they fought through because it wasn’t easy.”
Eagles offensive lineman Cam Jurgens said his feet were still burning after the game and that he needed several pairs of cleats because the heat caused problems with the footwear.
“Halftime was like a NASCAR pit crew helping me get ready for the second half,” he said. “That turf was just radiating.”
Philadelphia left tackle Jordan Mailata also raised concerns about the playing surface. Mailata said he rolled his ankles twice and questioned whether the softened plastic on the bottoms of his cleats contributed to the issue. He also pointed to the conditions as another reason for the NFL Players Association to push for the league to eliminate turf fields.
The Eagles had attempted to prepare for the environment by arriving in Nashville on Friday, a day earlier than usual, and holding a midday walkthrough Saturday. The team also took extra measures to maintain hydration and provide additional cooling resources during the game.
Despite the conditions, Philadelphia overcame a 20-17 deficit with 1:56 remaining. Quarterback Jalen Hurts engineered a nine-play, 65-yard touchdown drive, finishing it by connecting with wide receiver Darius Cooper for a 3-yard touchdown with nine seconds remaining.
Saquon Barkley left with a stinger before returning in the second half, while Dallas Goedert exited with a knee injury.
The victory improved the Eagles to 2-0 while giving the team its first road win of the season.
