Over the past week, the Washington Commanders- players, coaches, and executives- were frustrated, even angry, that there was this narrative going around about quarterback Jayden Daniels and his teammates. When Daniels dislocated his left elbow against Dallas last week, a video circulated of Daniels on the ground while his teammates rushed off the field.
Of course, some social media accounts ran with it. They didn’t show the entire video. Instead, they created the narrative that players didn’t care about Daniels.

When the Commanders returned to the practice field on Wednesday, head coach Dan Quinn and several players were ready to discuss it. One called it bull----.
Fortunately, they crushed that narrative, and it went away.
On Friday, general manager Adam Peters shared good news on the Sports Junkies. Peters said Daniels would avoid not only surgery but also a stint on injured reserve. He was returning to play. Head coach Dan Quinn later called him ‘week-to-week,’ the best-case scenario for everyone involved, including fans.
John Keim of ESPN revealed that Daniels met with his teammates in the locker room on Friday and delivered the big news. How they reacted says it all.
“Washington’s players received a big boost Friday morning,” Keim said. “That’s when quarterback Jadyen Daniels updated the team on the positive news regarding his elbow. He let them know what the specialists he visited over the past three days had told him. ‘I’m going to be here,’ Daniels said. One player said the room was hyped up. They cheered. They applauded. Some even stood. Washington has all the confidence in the world in backup Marcus Mariota, but as one player said, even Mariota understands what Daniels means to the team. Daniels will still have to wear a brace, and of course there’s always further risk. But on Friday, it was all positive for a team in need of good news.”
Jayden Daniels’ teammates love him. They respect him. They showed it last week and throughout the week.
