Handre Pollard inches closer to Percy Montgomery in Springbok points list

Springbok flyhalf Handre Pollard closed the gap to Percy Montgomery in the list of Springbok Test all-time points scorers.

Pollard scored seven points (two conversions and a penalty) in the Springboks’ 42-38 defeat to Australia at the Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday.
Top scorer
Handre Pollard now has 844 points in the 88 Tests he has played in the green and gold jersey at an average of 9.6 points per match.
His Test points have come via eight tries, 132 conversions, 175 penalties and five drop goals.
Percy Montgomery remains the top scorer in Springbok history with 893 points in 102 Tests.
Pollard trails Montgomery by 49 points. Should he continue at his current points-per-Test rate, he’ll have to play around five or six more Tests to assume the No 1 spot.
Still only 32 years of age, Handre Pollard has time on his side, but has picked up injuries of late which has curtailed his time in the green and gold jersey.
He also wasn’t near his best in the 48 minutes he played against the Wallabies this weekend.
