BATTLE CREEK — Meet the most recent nominees for Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Bronson Battle Creek Hospital.
Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all high school sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday. In 2026, the Enquirer will have an Athlete of the Week for boys sports and an Athlete of the Week for girls sports.

Nominees for Bronson Battle Creek Athlete of the Week for boys sports
Gavin Chapman
Harper Creek Football
Gavin Chapman helped Harper Creek to a 50-14 city rivalry win over Pennfield. Chapman had a 47-yard touchdown run, a 51-yard punt return for a touchdown and added an interception on offense.
Logan Messenger
Harper Creek Tennis
Playing No. 1 singles, sophomore Logan Messenger helped Harper Creek earn 4-4 ties against Marshall and Jackson Northwest in Interstate 8 Conference play. Messenger won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 in his match against Northwest. He swept his Marshall opponent 6-0, 6-0.
Zain Qahwash
Bellevue Football
Quarterback Zain Qahwash helped Bellevue to its first win of the season as the Broncos defeated New Covenant Christian 58-8. Qahwash had 202 yards rushing on nine carries and three touchdowns in the victory.
Trenton Wolkiewicz
Marshall Soccer
Trenton Wolkiewicz helped Marshall to a 3-0 week in boys soccer as the Redhawks defeated Holt, Jackson Northwest and Grand Rapids Northwest. Wolkiewicz had a school-record four assists in the win over Jackson Northwest and added a goal on a free kick. He also had a goal and an assist in the win over Grand Rapids Northwest, coming up with two goals and five assists for the week from his center back position.
