TheReal Madrid right-back's cross was headed home by Gordon to break the deadlock, as England's Spanish-based stars combined.
Alexander-Arnold was a headline omission from the 2026World Cup squad, and Thomas Tuchel said the 27-year-old returned to the camp with a point to prove this month.
The defender has won just 35 caps despite a decorated club career, with several England managers having expressed concerns over his defensive games. Incredibly, Alexander-Arnold's appearance on Tuesday was his first competitive start for England at right-back for six years.
Speaking toITV Sport, he said he never lost belief that he could regain favour with England.
"It was amazing, always an honour and pleasure to represent my country," he said.
"It's been a long time but I've always believed that I can play for England and I always want to.
"The belief is always there, it's about proving it at club level. The manager gave me the chance tonight to play and to try to follow what he asked of me to the best of my ability. Hopefully he's happy with how I played."
Thomas Tuchel praised the performance of Alexander-Arnold at full-time and said his creative quality and security in possession was key to an England win.
“We never doubted that he can produce these kind of assists,” Tuchel said. “I think the second half the position, a bit of a deeper position, suited him more than the higher position in the first half. Overall, I think we had a good and professional performance. Of course the red card is such a heavy influence in the game.
“We need to keep focused, and Trent was a big help in this, because he’s very secure on the ball and can be decisive with his crosses. He did this solid defending and one decisive action that helped us score, so a good performance overall.”
