What will give in Ann Arbor on Saturday, Oct. 17?

The game will be played at 3:30 p.m., the Big Ten announced Oct. 5. However, the TV network will not be determined until the outcome of this weekend's games, including Penn State's White Out with USC on Saturday night.

The Nittany Lions, led by coach Matt Campbell, and the Wolverines, led by Kyle Wittingham, both fell out of the US LBM Coaches Poll this week after suffering back-to-back losses.

The Lions were embarrassed in a 34-13 rout at Northwestern. Michigan lost to Minnesota, 20-14.

While Penn State looked shockingly inept on defense in its defeat at the new Ryan Field, it proved to be their second straight anemic performance on offense under Rocco Becht, the most experienced and winningest quarterback in college football.

The Lions will now try to rebound against No. 17 USC on Oct. 10, in Beaver Stadium. The biggest fixes? Becht's accuracy and seemingly soft, ineffective play along the offensive and defensive lines.

The Wolverines, meanwhile, have an off week before playing Penn State. They've struggled on offense all season and needed a miracle, final-play touchdown to squeak past Western Michigan. Only once have they scored more than 19 points in a game.
