Ruben Amorim is reportedly eyeing up a surprise mid-season reunion with Joshua Zirkzee.
According to CalcioMercato, AC Milan are in desperate need of some attacking reinforcements, with Goncalo Ramos their only available and senior centre-forward as things stand.

While Manchester United don’t have many out-and-out No.9s to rely on themselves, the likes of Marcus Rashford, Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha have been and can be utilised up front.
It’s partly why Zirkzee continues to struggle considerably for game time, with the 25-year-old being limited to just 70 minutes on the pitch across all competitions since 2026/2027 got underway.
He has made only four appearances thus far, none of which came as a starter, and he watched on from the bench as an unused substitute for the opening three Premier League games of the term.
On Sunday, Zirkzee etched his name onto the scoresheet for the Netherlands in their Nations League clash with Serbia, so he’ll be chomping at the bit to build on his display and bag his first goal of the campaign for United in the coming weeks.

After his cameo, the Bayern Munich graduate conceded that his current situation at Old Trafford was far from ideal, but that he was the only one who could fix it.
“There is a lot of competition. The manager makes the choices. At the moment, the choice is that I mainly come on as a substitute.
“Ultimately, I have to do something about that myself, but it isn’t easy either. I have to keep working every day and prove myself. I have to fight my way into the starting lineup.”
However, you would imagine that the prospect of returning to Serie A, where he spent two years with Bologna prior to his United move in the summer of 2024, will be enticing.
When Zirkzee was being heavily linked with a move away from United last winter, then-manager Amorim told reporters: “I want to keep Josh because he gives everything and he’s trying in training, but we don’t know.
“The window is open, and we will see what happens. We just need to focus on training.”
