The Milwaukee Brewers keep finding ways to win, and there's something to be said for that in Major League Baseball. The Brewers face their toughest task yet in their next series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, an organization trying to go back-to-back-to-back for the first time since the New York Yankees did.
If the Dodgers accomplish this feat, they'll become the first team in the National League to do so.
As for Milwaukee, if a team is going to beat Los Angeles, it has to play perfect baseball on both sides of the ball.
The Brewers can do that because they play sound defense, get timely hits, and have an elite pitching staff.
That pitching will be the biggest factor in this series. If the Brewers aren't getting outs at a high level, they stand absolutely no chance against the star-studded Los Angeles offense.
After winning the NLDS against the San Diego Padres, 3-1, Brewers skipper Pat Murphy understands the challenge his team faces.
“We have a monumental task ahead of us, based on what I know about the Dodgers. There’s like an All-Star at every position,” said Murphy, per Adam McCalvy. “But you know what? Teams win. And we’ve got to play as a team.”
Looking at the Dodgers lineup, you can see an All-Star in nearly every spot.
It's almost sickening to think that, against the Atlanta Braves in Game 4, they ran out a lineup with Kyle Tucker hitting eighth and Andy Pages hitting ninth.
A strong argument could be made that just about a year and a half ago Tucker was one of the best eight players in baseball, and Pages is a legitimate young star.
The Brewers have shown they can fight the mighty who spend a lot of money, though this will be much different than any other time.
