Hendrick Motorsports Driver Wins Another O’Reilly Series Race

Corey Day delivered a clutch performance Sunday night, capturing the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway after a dramatic battle in the closing laps. Driving the No. 17 Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports, Day made a bold three wide move on a late restart before holding off Jesse Love to secure the win. The Blue Cross NC 300 had been postponed from Saturday because of rain, making Sunday’s finish worth the wait for Day and his team.

The victory marked Day’s fourth career win and his second consecutive victory in the series’ Chase playoffs. It also gave him a major boost in the championship battle with only four postseason races remaining.

Day Delivers When It Matters Most

Day’s winning move came with approximately 10 laps remaining. Running near the front, he seized an opportunity on the restart and went three-wide to take control of the race.

The aggressive move paid off, but the job was not finished. Love remained close behind, putting pressure on Day through the closing laps. Day held his line and kept his No. 17 Chevrolet out front to cross the finish line first.

The victory highlighted Day’s ability to make decisive moves under pressure. With the championship battle tightening, winning races and collecting valuable points could prove crucial as the series approaches its season finale.

Jesse Love and Sheldon Creed Finish on the Podium

Love finished second after challenging Day for the win, while championship leader Sheldon Creed secured third. Justin Allgaier finished fourth, and Carson Brown completed the top five.

Creed’s third-place result kept him near the front, but Day gained significant ground in the standings. According to NASCAR’s unofficial points calculations, Day gained 35 points on Creed and moved to within seven points of the championship lead.

Championship Battle Heats Up

Day’s latest victory puts him firmly in the championship conversation. His consecutive Chase wins show that he is building momentum at the most important point of the season.

With four postseason races remaining, Day has given himself a legitimate opportunity to challenge for the title. The next stop is Phoenix Raceway, where he will look to continue his winning run and put even more pressure on Creed.

For Day and Hendrick Motorsports, Charlotte was more than another victory. It was another major step toward a potential championship.
