CHAMPAIGN, Ill – Oregon wide receiver, fifth-year senior Evan Stewart, was arrested on Sunday and booked in Springfield Municipal Jail for driving under the influence of intoxicants according to Springfield, Oregon police.

According to KATU ABC, Stewart was released an hour after his booking by Oregon wide receiver Dakorien Moore.

“We are aware of the incident and are gathering information at this time,” a UO Athletics representative said to local news outlets on Monday morning.

It is still unknown if Stewart will suit up on Saturday against Illinois (3-3, 1-2 Big Ten), but looking at the history of players getting in trouble with the law before a game, it is almost certain he will be suspended.

This is a huge blow for Oregon (4-2, 2-1) as he was the team’s top receiver. Stewart leads the Ducks with 352 yards, 27 receptions and 4 touchdowns in just 5 games this season.

After a great 2024 season with Oregon in which he caught for 613 yards and 5 touchdowns, he tore his right patellar tendon, causing him to miss the entire 2025 season. Despite the great start in 2026, it looks like his collegiate career is at serious risk.

Oregon takes on Illinois with or without Stewart, this Saturday at Gies Memorial Stadium at 2 p.m.
