Ubisoft said more Assassin's Creed games are on the way, but don't expect to see remakes like Black Flag Resynced anytime soon.

The publisher behind the history-hopping stealth-action franchise laid all its cards on the table in a lengthy update post yesterday. Considering that this year's Assassin's Creed 4 remake seemed to go off without a hitch when it launched in July, one might assume re-imaginings for other games are on the way – but that is not the case.
When spelling out where Assassin's Creed has been and where it's heading, Ubisoft plainly addressed desires for more re-imaginings in a section called 'What About Other Remakes?' It knows Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced has fans chomping at the bit for more, but it doesn't sound like we'll be getting any more for a very long time.
"One thing we want to be transparent about today is that we currently have no other Assassin's Creed remake actively in development," it said. "Our teams are already focused on the next chapter of Assassin's Creed titles, including projects you haven't heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories."
Why not revisit older games? Black Flag has remained a beloved installment in the franchise even more than a decade after its original release, but fans have continued to clamor to revisit stories from games like the original Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed 2, and Assassin's Creed 3. As happy with Black Flag Resynced as Ubisoft is, the publisher admitted that returning to the West Indies took more than a little legwork.
"As our first-ever franchise remake, Resynced taught us a tremendous amount," it explained. "Taking on a game that holds such a special place in players' hearts brought both excitement and challenges. Rebuilding old systems from scratch, adding new elements that fit the experience, and balancing legacy with innovation was a massive undertaking. We're super proud of what the Resynced team delivered and how well it was received."
Unfortunately, we won't be donning Altair or Ezio's Assassin cloaks anytime soon. Still, just because no remakes are in development now, it doesn't mean there won't ever be an opportunity to return to fan-favorite worlds and stories.
"But don't mistake that for a closed door. Like many of you, we love the idea of revisiting our classic titles, and we'll keep exploring opportunities to bring older titles back. That door remains open because, after all... Nothing is true, everything is permitted."
Of course, that doesn't mean the Creed is going anywhere. Ubisoft also acknowledged that its teams are "focused on the next chapter of Assassin's Creed titles," which includes projects fans "haven't heard about yet, featuring new settings and stories." One of those is Codename Hexe, another game that it made sure to touch on in its update post. In May, the publisher said the plan was to deliver new games in the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon franchises over the course of the next few years.
IGN gave Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced a 9/10 review. We said, "More than just a shinier version of the same game you remember, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced brings what was already one of the best games in the series up to today’s standards." Its final major content update added New Game+, Nightmare difficulty, and more earlier this week.
