The Toronto Blue Jays were just a couple of outs away from winning the World Series a year ago, but Miguel Rojas of the Los Angeles Dodgers had other plans. The disappointment carried over into 2026, as Toronto failed to even make the playoffs.

A big reason for that was the number of injuries the team dealt with throughout the season, making it difficult to find any consistency. The Blue Jays will be looking to add players who can stay healthy this winter.

“Some injuries, you can see coming. When the 42-year-old Max Scherzer runs into a few IL stints, no one should be surprised. When José Berríos has Tommy John surgery after not missing a start for nearly a decade, it's terribly unfortunate, but we all understand the realities of baseball and the limitations of the human elbow. The Blue Jays are trying to find that line now between bad luck and controllable variables," MLB.com's Keegan Matheson wrote.

While pitching will certainly be an area Toronto looks to improve, the infield could also use some attention.

“The infield largely remains the same. Toronto hopes for a bounce-back season from Guerrero Jr., while Clement and Gimenez are up the middle, and Okamoto stays at the hot corner. The Blue Jays could add another low-cost infielder this offseason,” SI’s Zion Trammell wrote.

CBS Sports' Mike Axisa believes that super-utility man Mauricio Dubón could be a great addition for Toronto.

“Every contender could use a player like Dubón. He's a true super utility guy who can play every position except catcher -- and play it well. Offensively, Dubón is an aggressive bat-to-ball player with a knack for ideal launch angles, which, in English, means he's a line drive hitter. He obliterated his previous career high in games played and plate appearances this past season and handled the workload well,” Axisa wrote.

For the Blue Jays, adding Dubón would be a great move, especially considering he is coming off the best season of his career in several different ways. Toronto would be getting a versatile player who could fill multiple roles, but the challenge will be prying him away from Atlanta.

Dubón was on a $6.1 million contract with the Braves. There would be plenty of opportunities for him on Toronto's roster, but the strong support he has received from his teammates in Atlanta could ultimately convince him to stay.
