Only Borussia Dortmund’s Gregor Kobel (15) kept more Bundesliga clean sheets than Moritz Nicolas (13) in 2025/26, which has naturally aroused interest in Borussia Mönchengladbach’s custodian.
Premier League side Aston Villa have already made an enquiry about Nicolas who, according to a report by Bild, has a €10m exit clause. However, this is a time-limited clause which means that interested clubs would have to activate it before the end of the World Cup, although the German outlet notes that Premier League sides tend to do their business towards the end of the window, which closes on September 1.
Although a preference to keep Nicolas, who while envisioning a future at Die Fohlen as a leader, is reportedly open to a move to the Premier League. Gladbach themselves aren’t ruling out a departure after the expiry of his exit clause either, should they receive a considerable offer for their No.1 goalkeeper.
