Speaking to reporters after practice on Wednesday, Dart said he intends to do something remarkable this season after putting significant time into his preparation leading up to Week 1.
“I think any time that you are really pushing yourself to your limits on end, I think that's where, and really in any profession, whatever you're doing, you're going to grow the most,” Dart said. “That was an emphasis that I really wanted to put on myself coming into Year 2.
"Having a different situation than last year, where this year I was the guy, and I want to take the necessary steps to go out there. And I think that there's a ton of extra motivation from this past season. And I want to do something special.”
Dart enters the year with increased expectations after a promising rookie season. He completed 63.7 percent of his passes for 2,272 yards, 15 touchdowns, and five interceptions across 14 games, 12 of which he started. He also rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns.
The Giants expect Dart to take another step in 2026 as the offense builds continuity with new additions Odell Beckham Jr., Darnell Mooney, Isaiah Likely, Francis Mauigoa and Malachi Fields.
When asked whether he feels like a different player entering his second season, Dart said he has grown.
“I mean, I feel like I'm not even the same person at all,” Dart said. “Obviously, the growth that you make from the experiences that you have from one year to the next. And I just feel like I've grown a ton through this offseason. So, I feel comfortable. I feel like I'm seeing things really well.”
Dart’s progress will be paramount to the Giants’ success in 2026. He will get his first chance to show what he can do as a second-year quarterback when New York faces the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
